CANstruction: March 2008 – St. Louis

Congratulations for a third year in a row to the St. Louis Office CANstruction team, led by chairs Chad Janson and Kelley Davis.  This year, the build-out took place on March 6th at the St. Louis Mills Mall.  The team started the build at 8:00 a.m. and finished up at around 6 p.m. 

The sculpture, made completely of cans, was a mother penguin feeding her baby and consisted of 3,800 cans. Several area engineering and architectural firms participated in the event. RJN received the prize for best use of labels for the 2nd year in row, which gives us a spot in the national contest.The structure was on exhibit until March 18th when the team “deconstructed” following the awards ceremony. 

A number of people contributed to the success of the build.  A raffle was organized for the Canstruction drive and $217 was raised from donated candy and gift donations. The team received also received $2,400 from 9 subconsultants, including $500 from the RJN foundation.
